Hiking and paths for the rebirth of the Cinque Terre

A non competitive walk to remember that the Cinque Terre have gone back to being one of the most enchanting places in the world, where to spend a day or a holiday.

The walk is scheduled for Sunday 25th March, with routes that unfold through the Park paths among vineyards, olive groves, chestnut groves and Maquis. The departure will be at 9 a.m. from the gym of Riomaggiore secondary school. The participants will be able to walk along lanes and hundred years old staircases, which up to a few years ago were the only links between the villages of this stretch of the farthest Ligurian eastern part.

It will be a unique occasion to dive into the maritime villages of Riomaggiore and Manarola, linked by the famous “Via dell’Amore” (Love’s path), visit the hilly hamlets of Groppo and Volastra, Porciana and Pianca: natural oasis in the greenery of terraced vineyards, offering unique views of the Ligurian Coast, the Tuscany Archipelago, the Palmaria and Tino islands, Corsica and other villages of the Cinque Terre. However, besides the event of 25th March, the real novelty is that the Cinque Terre, victims of the flood of last 25th October, will be born again at Easter.

The maritime villages are part of Unesco World Heritage and of the whole of Liguria, and will be once again welcoming and walkable. In the villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola and Corniglia, the incoming facilities are operational, whereas the urban development projects in Monterosso will be finished by the end of March. Between the end of March and the first few days of April, 90% of the incoming facilities in the historic centre and about 100% of those in the new part of the village, in the Fegina area, will be ready.

Vernazza, during the first week of April, will be able to be visited, and some incoming facilities and restaurants will be open. Easter is the deadline that will sanction the end of the state of emergency and the beginning of a new life: even more beautiful than the past one.

Within this perspective, the rebirth of the new page of the “Ente Parco” (Park Board) portal is also important; it is dedicated to the information about the paths state of health, which will provide official communications updated in real-time about their practicability.
