Big snowfall in Liguria: Meteo Alert 2


As anticipated from the weather forecast in the past days the big snowfall, “Big Snow”, has arrived in Italy and in particular in Liguria. An intense snowfall has interested our region from the first hours of Monday 11 Feb, going from West to East.

About 8 a.m. in the cities of Savona and Genova (and their provinces) have been registered first piles of snow with a certain relevance; the intensity of the snowfall grew during the morning with true blizzards.

The situation came back to normal at noon but snowfall restarted in the afternoon at 4 p.m.

During the evening some residual snowfalls has interested our region.

Most difficult situations are in the inland where snowfalls have reached 50 cm; in the city some problems due to snow for the traffic.

Snow also in the East Liguria, above all in the area of Portovenere while the Cinque Terre have been only grazed from the perturbation: on the sea it rained, snow only on the hills.

Meteo Alert 2 is going on till Tuesday 12 Feb, even if weather forecast said for a rainy day for tomorrow. Sun should come back on Wednesday.
